The US and Global Terrorism: Two Sides of the Same Coin

As the famous proverb says, ‘Truth will out.’ It comes to mind upon learning more and more details about the origins of the criminal terrorist organization ‘The Islamic State.’ Who finances, directs and coordinates the plans and actions of these terrorists, murderers and looters?
In many countries, the media regularly publishes countless posts, comments and analyses claiming that US intelligence is behind the Islamic State, or at least that the United States uses and supports ISIS for their own interests in the Middle East. Until recently, the ‘free’ US media cynically brushed aside any such claims as conspiracy theories, and the Obama administration denied this fact in every possible way.
But secret official documents received from the Ministry of Defense and the US State Department and published by Turkish and Iranian newspapers shed light on the internal evaluation of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). These documents envisage ‘the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as a US strategic asset in the region (‘2012 Defense Intelligence Agency document: West will facilitate rise of Islamic State in order to isolate the Syrian regime, May 19, 2005). The date of these documents is also very important. They are dated back to the beginning of 2012 — the beginning of the history of ISIS. Still long before the fall of the Iraqi city of Mosul. These documents bring the proposal of the US Defense Intelligence Agency to the attention of the government and the institutions involved in the creation of the aggressive policy in the Middle East, according to which ‘ISIS may be useful for Washington in its efforts to isolate the Syrian regime and remove the administration in Damascus.’
The Iranian newspaper Mashregh writes openly that, ‘ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, Ahrar ash-Sham, Lashkar-e Sham and numerous other groups that are geographically closely connected to the takfiris and Al Qaeda are the strike force which is secretly pursuing the policy of Western countries, primarily the United States, the reactionary Arab regimes and the Zionists.’
It is not surprising that the majority of terrorists trained in Saudi religious madrassas not only represent the striking power of the Western world and the Arab reactionary regimes, but also maintain their military power and security. The strategic steps taken by the US and its allies in the region indicate that they intend to continue using the barbaric capabilities of terrorists for years to come ‒ not only in the Middle East but throughout the world, and are not even going to stop their inhuman game. From the perspective of the true leaders of the United States, they must at all costs preserve their own dominance in the Middle East, and for this purpose, they are willing to both disgrace their country by collaborating with terrorists and to sacrifice the UN Security Council, other international organizations and generally any human values.
Knowledge of this information, which has been discussed by experts for quite some time and which is no secret for intelligence communities around the world, sheds light on the ‘victorious’ outcomes of Washington in its fight against international terrorism. As the old adage goes, ‘The father (the US) will not destroy his child (in our case, the Islamic State and the like). Even when the brave ‘falcons’ (the United States and Saudi Arabia) are bombing the alleged positions of their terrorist friends, for an unknown reason, it is civilians who suffer most, whose hatred runs high towards their overseas ‘friends.’
It has long been known that Washington does not and will not engage such terrorist organizations as the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda, but simply puts on a show of activities while the US military and industrial complex fills its pockets with millions of dollars stained by Arab blood. But this is the order of things in modern-day America, which was once a beacon of democracy and freedom. Today, Capitol Hill takes every chance to beat the war drums and hastily send ‘brave’ fighters, backed by missiles and aircraft carriers, to every corner of the earth.
But the morale and combat training of the American warfighters and instructors has hit rock bottom. In this context, the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, Saleh al-Mutlaq, was quite illustrative, saying in his interview with CNN that Iraqi soldiers trained by instructors from the United States demonstrated a low level of combat effectiveness and left the city of Ramadi after the attack of the militants of the Islamic State extremist group. He also added that neither he nor his colleagues understand why the unit that was supposed to have had US training for many years and to be one of the best in the army left Ramadi as it did, leaving its weapons behind. ‘This is not the army we would have wanted and expected to see,’ said Deputy Prime Minister. But this is not surprising, as American instructors train the Iraqi army soldiers to run away at once, leaving all the US weapons in the battlefield at the first sight of terrorists.
At the same time, Washington’s efforts are backed by its European allies, which allow a growing number of so-called volunteers to freely transit the combat zone. Accordingly, there has been a sharp rise in the number of losses among these ‘volunteers’, either from the fire coming from the fighters of the Arab armies or from American bombings. According to information available to the French police and released on May 2 by French Interior Ministry Spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet, as of the current date, 104 French jihadists have been killed in Syria and Iraq. The French police also has information that more than 450 French Islamists are currently fighting in Syria and Iraq in the ranks of the Islamic State terrorist group.
It has been a year since the UN Security Council adopted a resolution aimed at preventing the funding of jihadist organizations and recruitment of new members for terrorist groups and their transition to Iraq and Syria. But despite these measures the number of those joining the Jihad movement has increased by 70 percent since March 2014, according to a report by the UN Security Council. Even the most conservative official figures place the number of jihadists today at 25,000. The International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) in London reported back in January 2015 that the majority of jihadists heading to the combat zones of the Islamic State come from Western Europe, from key countries such as France (1,200 people), Germany and the UK. But per capita, jihadist propaganda works best in Belgium, Denmark and Sweden. As for the rest of the world, 1,500 people have been recruited from Morocco, 1,500-2,000 from Saudi Arabia and 1,500-3,000 from Tunisia.
Under these circumstances, Washington continues to make a pretence of participating in the war on terrorism, which in reality boils down to empty promises and negotiations. For example, as reported by the US State Department, Special Presidential Envoy General John Allen traveled to Baghdad to meet with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to discuss matters related to countering the Islamic State. The US State Department’s release claims that the purpose was to discuss US support Iraqi efforts to counter ISIS, including the operation in Anbar Province, as well as possible measures by the US and the coalition countries to help Iraqi authorities to take back Ramadi and restore the territorial integrity of the country. General John Allen’s mission did not end there, however: he went on to Paris to attend a ministerial meeting between representatives of the international coalition to counter ISIS. Meanwhile, more and more civilians are killed and wounded in Mesopotamia every day with no end in sight.
Under such circumstances, the Middle East, ignited by the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, will long remain in a state of chaos and unrestrained civil war of all against all. And the blame for this lies primarily on the United States who – with a vengeance – utilize terrorists and try to subjugate the whole world. Not surprisingly, much of the world’s media describes the United States and global terrorism as the same notorious coin with two sides, but these sides are identical.
