Minority Democrat Lawmakers’ Charity Gave Zero Scholarships For Two Years Despite Raking In Millions

A stunning investigation by the New York Post revealed that a charity run by a group of New York Democrat lawmakers – “The New York Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators” – gave out zero scholarships despite its stated goal (and fundraising hook) of supporting minority students, and instead spent the entirety of a half-million-plus dollar annual haul on a single weekend of debauchery in Albany.

Every year.

Gary Pretlow, the group’s “long-time Treasurer” and only member who could be reached, said “I just write the checks.” No other members of the group, including Chair-thing Latrice Walker, could be reached for comment (except for State Sen. Leroy Comrie, who could be reached but nevertheless managed to hide in his office. Seriously.).
