Just a few days ago, multiple reporters heard Francis describe fundamentalism as “a sickness that is in all religions” – including Christianity. But precisely what is fundamentalism? If you go to Google, it is defined as “a form of a religion, especially Islam or Protestant Christianity, that upholds belief in the strict, literal interpretation of scripture.” So does Pope Francis really intend to “combat” those that believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible?
