Snopes has been chosen by Facebook as one of their official “fact-checkers”. As a result, Snopes will be given significant power in censoring and controlling what the public will be allowed to see on the internet. Ironically, Snopes itself has been revealed to have a blatant political bias, and their preferred method of fact-checking consists of name calling, obfuscation, and disinformation. Giving them the power to censor what is seen on other mainstream sites is a transparent attempt to shut down political dissenters and anyone from the alternative media who doesn’t agree with the multinational corporate controlled media.
