Going Underground: Too big to jail banks & Google ‘privacy invasions’
Afshin Rattansi goes underground on the scandals surrounding HSBC. Paul Moore, former head of Group Regulatory Risk at HBOS, warns that ‘ultimately it will lead to social unrest when ordinary people don’t see senior people being held to account’ for money laundering, mis-selling, and tax evasion, and calls for Lord Green and other senior execs to ‘take some accountability’ for the failures under their watch. Tim Jordan, author and lecturer, warns that Google are using cloud computing and recursion to collect as much information as possible, with governments already ‘trying to limit the kind of privacy invasions that can go with Google.’ Our producer Masha Kuzmenko goes on the campaign trail with the Labour party, asking if the workers’ party has managed to shake off the ghosts of Iraq. And forget Syriza – George Osborne has his own fight against the European Union.
