The Imam will point to him and say: “This is the True Messiah!”
I have had many complaints from Muslims saying that they do honor David and Solomon. With the following quote to back up their claims:
“We have sent thee inspiration as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him; We sent inspiration to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David, We gave the Psalms.” – Quran 4:163
Point taken. However when I hear Muslims speak, they say they honor Moses and Jesus. I have never heard them say they honor David. So my apologies.
However, having said that, Islam itself is not a new faith, it is based on an old faith taking it’s roots from Hebrew and Christian texts, which are in themselves often biased and inaccurate. Most of the Quran derives it’s teachings from these texts. One person lambasted me with the following quote:
“Fear of God is the beginning of Wisdom.”
Perhaps a better acronym applying to all three religions would be:
“Fear of Truth is the beginning of all Wisdom.”
As regards Solomon, most of the texts ascribed to him were Egyptian Wisdom teachings that were copied and included in Hebrew texts. Psalms and Proverbs have their origin in Egypt and were written or at least attributed to the Egyptian Kings, not David. Many sections of Psalms are transcriptions from Akhenaton and the worship of the Aten. Monotheism it appears, does not have it’s roots in the Torah or from the Hebrews but from Egypt and an Egyptian Kings. There are plenty of sources on the Internet researching this subject should you have the inclination to make comparisons.
To date, no matter how much they might dig under the Al-Aqsa Mosque, they have yet to find any evidence of the first Temple supposedly built by Solomon. The only remains are those of the Second Temple, the wailing wall. The conclusion reached is that Solomon was an Egyptian King, not the son of David and his Temple was an Egyptian Temple not a temple in Jerusalem.
According to the Dead Sea Scrolls, The Essenes, the Teachers of Righteousness, David is not considered to be one of the Righteous. They base this premise on monogamy. Noah only had one wife, the Righteous practise monogamy due to this reason. David was not a paragon of virtue, he was certainly not of the calibre of any of the prophets. He had Nathan killed so he could become King. He had Bathsheba’s husband killed so he could marry her. As I have mentioned above, the wisdom teachings ascribed to him are plagiarised and adapted from Egyptian texts.
As for the virgin birth, this is a Greek not a Hebrew concept. Jesus was not Greek. In Greek Mythology, the “Gods” rape mortal women and have children by them. The virgin birth is in alignment with Greek thinking and belief at the time, their gods made of stone in the image of man are representations of the planets.
Perhaps Muslims might want to rethink David, Solomon and the “Virgin birth,”and put them into a more accurate framework?
My objective is to search for accurate and as far as possible credible interpretations that are backed up by original sources. This is an on going and ever changing exercise. 100 years ago we did not have the benefit of the oldest texts so far available, being the Dead Sea Scrolls which has enabled scholars to get a more accurate reading and understanding of the original material. The material we have had until this discovery has proved to be biased and often inaccurate.
One glaring example is the use of the word “Lucifer” in Isaiah. This word is not used in the original texts. Again you can source this through the Internet and a translation of Copper Scroll found at Qumram along with the Dead Sea Scrolls. The original texts were written in Aramaic not Latin. The term “Lucifer,” in the time of Isaiah long before the Roman Empire came into being, was an unknown word and what is more an unknown concept. The Roman Lucifer, as with Greek mythology, refers to the planet Venus and is a later Protestant insertion into Isaiah, and an acronym for Rome and the Vatican. I am sure that this planet would be thrilled to know that little ant people on a neighbouring planet now associate her with evil. The next time we send up a space probe we should include this message and drop it off into her atmosphere.
