Peruvian President Pedro Castillo has been deposed and arrested in what many are describing as a “legislative coup.” Castillo is a former union organizer who was elected in 2021 but was removed from office by the opposition-controlled legislature after attempting to dissolve the Congress of Peru and rewrite the nation’s Constitution.
