The true issue isn’t that the CIA has the tools to spy on their own citizens, it’s the fact that they knew of the technology vulnerabilities, and decided against disclosing the vulnerabilities to tech companies.

If the CIA can discover the vulnerabilities, so can the Russians, Chinese, or organized crime.

“Weeping Angel” and the ‘Internet of Things’ – The CIA’s ability to listen to targets through Samsung smart TV’s.

The “Vulnerabilities Equities Process” – the CIA failed to comply with the Obama administration’s 2010 rule that requires the government to disclose all discovered technology vulnerabilities to US technology companies. Instead, they hoarded the exploits for their own use.

WikiLeaks announced they’ve released “less than 1% of it’s #Vault7 series in its part one publication ‘Year Zero’” on Tuesday.
Tuesday leaks disclosed the existance and capabilities of the CIA’s hacking arsenal. They did not provide the CIA’s actual code. Instead, WikiLeaks offered Tech Companies exclusive access to the CIA’s tools on Thursday to allow them to patch the vulnerabilities.
